Oh, boys and their toys!

I love my husband, I really do, but his interest in boats truly baffles me!

I had to work until 5:30pm Friday night and when I checked my phone at 4:30pm from my desk, I noticed a text from my husband wanting to go to a boat festival that night, which was 1 hour away. I think people could hear me groan from 2 rows of desks away, but, being the supportive and good wife that I am.. off we went to see some racing boats! I will never understand the whole boat thing, but I don't expect him to understand why I enjoy making jewellery or blogging either, so we must comprise sometimes.

Anyway, it was actually fun! We walked around for a bit looking at all of the boats on display (they were racing today, but for some reason, he wanted to see them up close and not actually race), walked around by the boardwalk, he talked about someday owning a boat (obviously, not one like this, unless of course we win a huge lottery.. then he can have one of these multi million dollar boats!) and I loved seeing him so happy. His eyes were lit up like a 5 year old in a toy store!

So, last night was his night and today is mine. I spent the day doing 3 online exams for my Office Administration courses through my college, and now it is relaxing time! I haven't truly felt like I could relax for weeks so I am just going to enjoy today.. sip my coffee, catch up on some blogs and television shows that I have recorded, and RELAX! Just reading that word makes me relax a bit. And I know with the move coming in 20 days now (eek!) it might be one of my last chances to relax.

In other news though, I have finally decided how I wanted to cut my hair. It has always been the same - straight, fine and long - it has never been cut any shorter then about 6-7 inches PAST my shoulder!

And these are my inspiration pictures for my new haircut (coming next weekend) courtesy of Pretty Little Liars the tv show. I have been wanting to do something different for a while now, and this is it. I am very excited for a change!

A Letter to my Mom

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Sorry for such a sad post today, if you skip it over, I won't blame you!

572 days ago today the world lost an angel. It is hard to believe that it has been that long since I saw my mom, spoke to her, held her hand.

Today would have been her 64th birthday.

I have decided to take this time to write and share a letter to my mom.

Mom,

You were always more than a mother to me; you were my best friend. Not a day went by that we didn't speak on the phone or see each other. I shared everything with you and I am so thankful for the relationship we had, I wish I told you more often how much you truly meant to me.

Today is your birthday, and if you were still here with us, I'm sure we would be out at the house having a BBQ or taking you out for supper. You never wanted anyone to spend any money on you, always putting everyone else above yourself, but your birthday was one day that we would finally get you to give in and allow us to spoil YOU!

I know you are still with me, but it's just not the same. I miss you everyday, and every special occasion makes it harder. I just hope that you are at peace, enjoying yourself and having a party today, of all days! You certainly deserve it for everything you have done for all of us.

Love you always,
Your Daughter

July Wantable Subscription Box Review

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

So, I received my July Wantable beauty subscription box last week and wanted to take the time to review the products I recieved!

Lavera Soft Eyeliner in Brown
Retail Price - $15.20
Lovely! Something that I would use every day! It is a kohl eyeliner that goes on very smoothly and the brown is a nice shade for me.

Paula Dorf Cheek Color in Jazzed
Retail Price - $23.00
A little bit too dark for my skintone, but the product itself is a very generous size for blush and is very well pigmented. I might try this product out again in a lighter shade sometime though.

Three Custom Color Simply Beautiful Cheek Tint
Retail Price - $22.00
When first opening the package this product appears to be very dark, but it goes on very sheer and subtle. I'm not fond of the fact that it has a bit too much shimmer for my liking, but I would wear it on a night out - just not every day wear!

MiA BelleZZa Luxe Creme Gel Liner in Marrone
Retail Price - $18.50
I've never tried gel liner before so I'm still working on applying it correctly but I like the feel of it, as well as the colour. The Marrone colour is a very dark brown, almost black.

Swagger Cosmetics Highlighting Powder Champagne in the Bubble Bath
Retail Price - $14.50
This stuff threw me off by the description and I had to look it up to figure out how to use it as the package wasn't labelled properly. I have never heard of this brand before, but this product seems pretty interesting and I can't wait to try it out!

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Bronze Beauty Self Tanning Lotion
Retail Price - $?
This was an extra 1 oz sample that was included with my box and I can't wait to try it! Seems like a nice product but I haven't had the best of luck with self tanning lotion and my very pale skintone, so we will see.

Overall, I am impressed with my 2nd Wantable box so far.. however, I have just cancelled my subscription. Mostly because you cannot skip a month with Wantable and since we are moving in the next month, I don't want it sent to the wrong address, so I've cancelled for now. I may or may not start my subscription up again after our move, it is hard to justify the cost when overall I have received products I am more interested in the 1/4 less the cost Ipsy box!
