A little bit of too much information, but they saved me at work this past week. I am always so prepared, but this week has been a big blur of rushing around which has made me a little bit forgetful at times.
The Ability to Write
With pen and paper. I needed to print out about 10 sets of directions for Barry and his father's trip this weekend, which was the perfect time for my printer to quit. But then, as I sat there with a throbbing finger hand writing the directions out, I found myself thinking that at least I have the ability to write. At least I am healthy and have this ability. I take the ability to write with an actual pen and paper for granted sometimes.
The Weather
I might complain about the cold and snowy weather sometimes, but I need to remind myself that at least we are lucky enough to be in a location where we don't need to worry about typhoons/hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes.
Coffee
Ahh, coffee. I love my coffee, it makes my mornings a little brighter and helps me get on the go fairly quickly. This past week I have needed my coffee more than normal. I have felt very exhausted and restless every single morning.. without coffee, I am sure I would have been late to work at least one morning this past week.
Courtesy
I am thankful that I know common courtesy, because it appears that a lot of people still don't. Any time I open a door, I look behind me and in front of me to see if someone is coming out, and if they are, I always hold the door open for them. Apparently this act of common courtesy is lost on a lot of people that I work with. The main door to our offices has been slammed in my face more times then I could count this week, and with the way I have been feeling, it has irked me all the more then normal. It is people like this why we now need a week dedicated to 'Random Kindness'. This should be an every day occurrence, but unfortunately, people nowadays are too busy and on the go to pay attention to the people around them.
Thank you for this ;) I'm getting ready to head out to work to start my week and it's making me think of all the things I am thankful for as well. Although I understand it, I almost want to delete Facebook's existence on Mondays because of all the people whining about going to work. I just discovered your blog over the weekend, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit!!
ReplyDeleteI know! I have been guilty about complaining about work, but never on facebook, only my husband gets to hear my rants. But, usually within 5 minutes I realize that I should just be quiet and thankful that I have a job right now, when so many others in our area don't.
DeleteAnd thank you for visiting!
ahh so true about common courtesy! I wonder why people just walk through a door that you're holding open for yourself. great list though - I forget that there is so much to be thankful for!

I have noticed it so much more frequently lately.. mostly at work, but it happens everywhere! I definitely need to remind myself anytime I start to complain, or feel down about things, just how much there is to be thankful for.
DeleteOh... coffee... I am so jealous! I'm sitting here drinking my cup of decaf, thanks to my knocked up status, and it's just not the same! :-) Glad you have so much to be thankful for!

Haha, that is definitely one thing I would miss if we did decide to have a baby. My caffeine fix is essential to my mornings!
DeletePeople also don't know how to say thank you when you hold the door for them either. And you wanna know what the worst thing in the world is? Putting your quarters into those tamp machines and NOT GETTING A TAMPON OUT OF IT. Worst worst worst.
ReplyDeleteYes! I have had quite a few people at work, when I have waited for them to get to the door, just grab it and walk on through - no thank you or nothing. I think I've noticed it so much more at work because the doors are really heavy, and will slam shut right in your face if you aren't quick enough or the person in front of you doesn't hold the door for you.
DeleteThat would be the worst! I didn't even think about the possibility that it could have been empty - really would have ruined my day! I do have the worst luck with the vending machines at work eating my change - but I've figured them out. Sometimes I put money in and it drops me down 2 bottles of pop and I just know the poor person before me had their money eaten! It has gotten me once before when I only had enough change for 1 bottle of water and really needed a drink.. and nothing!
