Taking a Break

Sunday, February 23, 2014

Clearly, I am taking a much needed blogging break.

I haven't post much in the past few weeks, and there are many reasons for that.

  • I was sick for over a week and had a cancer scare - which literally took the urge to share anything about my life right out from under me. Luckily, my test results came back with good news, but I was sick for a week after a bad reaction to antibiotics I was prescribed.
  • I have been preparing for craft shows - this will be my first year of doing craft shows, and I am doing everything I possibly can do to be prepared and making tons of products to be ready when the time comes. My first show is at the end of March, and depending on if my applications are accepted for the rest, I may be doing over 14 shows this year!
  • And, honestly, I just don't have the urge to blog like I used to. It's sad, since I love the blogging community so much, and enjoy reading others blogs and interacting with amazing people.

This break will not last very long, and I will continue to post occasionally during my 'break time' whenever time allows me to do so, but right now, my priorities are different and I just can't find the time to blog interesting posts or content. Because of that, a break is definitely necessary!

Sponsor Spotlight - Ashley from Married to the Game

Monday, February 17, 2014

Today, I am super excited to introduce you to my wonderful sponsor Ashley from Married to the Game. This girl is awesome and her blog is a must read! I am jealous of all the traveling she gets to do, but we also have so much in common - most importantly, our love of hockey!

Check her out:

What made you want to start a blog?
I wanted a place to document the crazy journey that my fiance, Kory, and I are on with his hockey career. We are constantly traveling around, so it's a great way to share what we are doing with with all of our friends, family, and his fans. I also wanted something that I could work hard at and call my own since I can't have my own career with all of the moving around that we do.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love the blogging community. I'm new to the blogging world, but I've already met so many great people that I can connect with! I get so much motivation through reading other blogs as well :)

What are 3 of your favorite posts that you've written on your blog?

What is your favorite place that you have traveled to?
Toronto! I didn't think that I would be a huge fan of living in the city, but Toronto took us by surprise. We fell in love with it and I would love to go back.

You are getting married soon! What is your best piece of advice for others planning their wedding?
Definitely keep a wedding binder so that you can keep everything really organized. Planning can be overwhelming because there are so many details that have to be worked out, but it helps to follow one of those wedding planning timelines to make sure that you are on track. I've had some breakdowns when it comes to planning, especially when I kind of forgot about wedding planning for two months (you can read about that here: http://www.married-to-the-game.com/2014/01/what-was-i-thinking.html). I know that it can be very stressful, but the most important thing to remember is that you will only be planning your wedding once and it will be over befor you know it so you have to relax, take deep breaths, and enjoy the process!

Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
I have no idea what the future holds for us and we can never plan ahead for anything, but I hope that we are more settled down somewhere. Who knows whether that "somewhere" will be in Canada or the States, but I'll be happy wherever we end up. I hope to be a mom too!

That Time I Went to See a Medium

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Before last night, I never believed in mediums or anything of the sort, however my mom surely did and what can I say? I was curious!

A friend shared a local mediums page on Facebook and I decided to contact her. No idea what made me decide to do it, but at the very least it could make for some entertainment.

No, she did not look like this at all, and did not have a crystal ball, but I couldn't find any accurate image to use for this post!

My husband was supposed to come with me, but I had no idea how against it he would be. So, my sister in law luckily was willing to come with me.

We both walked in there full of doubts and walked out completely confused and for me personally, shocked. I always used to tease my mom for believing in things like this to no end, but maybe, just maybe she was right.

We had an hour long session but unfortunately did not receive a recording but going off what I remember, it was pretty eery how well she nailed down my mom and dad's different personalities.

Whether I am a true believe now or not, I don't really know. But, it did help me in a lot of ways. Whether it was real or not, I feel like a bit of a weight has been lifted and that I have a tiny bit of closure over both my parents' deaths. And, for that, I am thankful.

Sunday Social - Week 88 - TV Talkin'

Sunday, February 9, 2014

I know that it is late in the day, and I almost missed doing this week's Sunday Social questions. Luckily, I was able to grab a few minutes to post this week's questions because anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my movies and television shows!

1. What is your favorite thing to watch on a girls night?
Usually Romantic Comedies that I can't force my husband to watch with me!

2. What is your favorite thing to watch on your day off?
Most days off, I am catching up on any tv I missed throughout the week. Sometimes though, I will work on catching up on a show that I've always wanted to watch but haven't gotten around to it yet.

3. What is your favorite thing to watch when you're sick?
I usually go back to watching Friends reruns. My poor Friends DVDs are so worn out it isn't even funny. Watching Friends seems to put me at ease, and in a better mood. So, when I'm feeling down or sick, I always put them on!

4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
Oh, wow. I honestly can't remember.. It has been quite a while. I think it was Grown Ups 2?

5. What are your top three favorite movies or tv shows?
Currently, I would have to say:
Movies - The Notebook, Bridesmaids, Forrest Gump
TV Shows - The Vampire Diaries, Revenge, Castle

Losing Focus + A Giveaway

Wednesday, February 5, 2014

Do you ever just have those times in life where you feel like you can't truly focus on anything? I have found that my focus has been lacking in several areas the last couple weeks. First, at work - ever since I found out I would be losing my job in June, I have been losing my desire and passion for my work. I still do my job, and I do it well, but the personal feeling of accomplishments just aren't there anymore and even the tiniest work related issue frustrates me.

Second, is this blog. If you haven't noticed, I haven't been around much lately, or not as much as I was before. There is one main reason for this - lack of focus. I have just felt very out of my groove lately, and just not that into it.

I'm sure things will change, and I'm currently attempting to write out some ideas I've had for a few really awesome blog post ideas, but we will see what happens. Maybe it is just the winter blahs catching up to me, who knows.

In the meantime - here is another giveaway that I am a part of for my awesome readers!
